Red Dot Award

Introducing the exclusive Red Dot Network from 1 October 2019

Design brings people together: introducing the exclusive Red Dot Network from 1 October 2019

The Red Dot Award has been the focal point for companies, agencies and designers from around the world for decades. The competition and a range of international activities have led to the development of a global design community that will find a fitting platform with the Red Dot Network from 1 October 2019. Red Dot has also created the network in response to demand from competition participants and industry insiders who want to make this renowned world of design visible and productively usable by its members.

The Red Dot Network: the new design platform

As one of the largest international design competitions, the Red Dot Award brings together designers, agencies, companies, jury members and industry experts. Whether it is the glamorous award ceremonies in Essen, Berlin and Singapore, the inspiring international jury sessions or the exhibitions of outstanding design in three museums, the Red Dot Award has for decades been the gathering point for design creatives worldwide. So as not to let this accumulated expertise go unused, the Red Dot Network will, as of 1 October 2019, provide a platform to promote exchange in this sector.

Membership privileges

Membership of the Red Dot Network offers members access to the non-public space of the www.red-dot-network.org website. Here they can view the online database which lists all the winners of the three competitions – Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design, Red Dot Award: Product Design and Red Dot Award: Design Concept – since 2011. In 2019, that amounts to around 23,000 entries. As such, the database provides an excellent overview of developments in design quality across the various industry sectors. Members furthermore gain insights into selected industry analyses by the Red Dot Institute, so they are well informed and up-to-date on opportunities, risks and developments in the design world.

But these are not the only benefits of Red Dot Network membership. Two complimentary entries per year for the three competitions allow members to present their own work and have it evaluated. If the entry wins an award at the Red Dot Gala in Berlin, Essen or Singapore, this success is complemented by preferential treatment when booking tickets for the award ceremony.

As design is nothing without the people behind it, the network will facilitate contact between members with the help of individual profiles. In order really to feel part of an international network, personal contact with other members and “networkers” is essential. The Red Dot Network offers incentives as membership includes free admission to the Red Dot museums and other international exhibitions. A further benefit is complimentary tickets for congresses, conferences and other events organised by Red Dot. Members can also communicate about and publicise their own events in the public areas of the www.red-dot-network.org website – with the added cachet of the tagline “recommended by Red Dot”.  In addition to inspiring events and interesting lectures, there are also reductions on publications by Red Dot Edition including the yearbooks and specialist literature.

Membership of this exclusive network can be made public both online and via all other communication material through the use of the Red Dot Network label which identifies users as members of the exclusive design network.

Joining the Red Dot Network

Entry to the Red Dot Network is possible through recommendation by one of the network ambassadors. The so-called Red Dot Ambassadors are all members of the competition jury. They are appointed and represent the Red Dot Network in an honorary capacity. In addition to nomination by one of the ambassadors, companies, individuals and designers also have the option of applying for a fee-based membership.

Further information on the Red Dot Ambassadors, application and membership can be found at www.red-dot-network.org.
