imm Cologne 2016
The yearly happening furniture fair imm Cologne has started. On the grounds of the Koelnmesse, exhibitors and visitors can inform themselves on the latest from the furniture industry until 24 January. With more than 1,200 booths, the imm presents current interior trends and product innovations from all over the world. As one of the most important platforms for designers, manufacturers and up-and-coming talents, the fair moreover sets industry specific impulses with an extensive event programme in the city of Cologne and is, for a whole week, the center of the international design scene.
The huge breadth and depth of what is on show ranges from economy-priced self-assembly furniture all the way to premium brands as well as urban space and futuristic interior design concepts. Divided into nine different segments, the fair shows innovations from the fields of upholstery, to sleeping systems, living accessories, bathroom fittings or light installations – all in all, the whole spectrum of contemporary product varieties. Of course, also megatrends like connectivity and “Silver Society” are extensively depicted.
Among the exhibitors are furthermore many designers who were distinguished within the Red Dot Award: Product Design. As for example Walter Knoll, awarded among others with the Red Dot in 2015 for his table “Seito” made from white quartz. Or the Bosnian manufacturer Gazzda, honoured for the minimalistic oak chair “Fawn”. Also present: Puntmobles from Spain. Last Year, with their sideboard “Stockholm” they managed to convince the Red Dot jury with their unconventional design language and to ensure themselves a Red Dot. The Online Presentation shows all awarded products of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2015.
