Red Dot: Junior Award – The platform for young talents

The Red Dot: Junior Award is one of each year’s highlights within the Red Dot Award: Communication Design. Many submissions by young talents are fascinating and stunning in a way that make our jurors ask: Is this really a junior work?

The Red Dot: Junior Award is a competition that is organised in the framework of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design. It is open to students from universities, other institutions of higher learning and vocational schools, as well as to young designers. Every work participating in the Red Dot: Junior Award has a chance to be awarded with the Red Dot or the Red Dot: Best of the Best. Furthermore, the participant with the most convincing project of the award year receives the “Red Dot: Junior Prize” and 10,000 EUR to launch their career as well as special mentions in the Red Dot exhibitions and press releases.

Last year, the award for up-and-coming designers which was sponsored by software firm Adobe, went to Taiwan: Chien-Hsing Chen and Hsuan-Eng Chen from the National Taiwan University of Science & Technology won the award for their app “BlindNavi”. This new app works by imitating how blind people recognise streets, combining multi-sensory messages with known reference points.

On 29 February 2016, the Red Dot Award: Communication Design starts into a new competition’s year and once again offers students and young designers to demonstrate their talent.
