Red Dot Award: Product Design

Award-winning smoothie makers and juicers

A healthy start into the new year with award-winning smoothie makers and juicers

Colourful and diverse – fresh smoothies and juices are available in different colours and flavours. The healthy vitamin bombs provide highly concentrated vital nutrients. The beverages are just the right companions for the new year as, apart from New Year’s resolutions such as doing more sports and avoiding stress, a healthier nutrition often ranks among the classic plans after the turn of the year. The suitable equipment to realise these ambitions is presented in the Online Exhibition. In 2018, different juicers and blenders were awarded with the distinction “Red Dot”.

Pure innovation

The juicer “VitaExtract” from Robert Bosch Hausgeräte convinces with its “Gentle Squeeze” technology. It guarantees that the juice is extracted at low speeds so that the natural ingredients, vitamins and taste are preserved. Thanks to the MixControl operating lever, the amount of fruit pulp and the consistency of the juices and smoothies can be controlled individually. The drip-free design of the spout and the gently curved form of the slow juicer perfectly reflect the careful process of juicing.

Sophisticated functionality

For the ones that need huge amounts of juice, the “Juice Fountain Cold XL” is the right device as it allows to extract two litres at one time. Due to the new arrangement of pulp bin and the side nozzle rotated by 90 degrees, the product needs less space. Furthermore, the user can juice whole fruits which saves preparation time. “With its gently curved lines and a high-gloss surface, this powerful juicer blends well into every kitchen environment,” summarizes the jury the benefits of the product from Breville.

User-friendly handling

The focus of the juicer “Viva Masticating Juicer” from Philips is on the user-friendly handling rather than on huge amounts. A sophisticated sieve construction and three-stage assembly assure easy and speedy cleaning. Moreover, the user can fill in whole fruits as the feed aperture has a diameter of 70 mm.

Sheer freshness

“Its distinctive silhouette imparts a powerful impression to this blender. It also gains merit with its innovative functionality,” says the Red Dot Jury about the “Philips High Speed Vacuum Blender” from the Avance Collection. The blender generates a vacuum in the jar so that less oxygen enters the contents. This guarantees that the smoothies retain their colour and vitamins for longer. The centrally located rotary knob with light ring enables a self-explanatory usage.

Combination of mixer and drinking bottle

The “I-MU Juice Cup” from I-MU Technology is mixer and drinking bottle in one. It allows to process fruit quickly to make fresh juices or smoothies on the way. For this, the lower part, which houses the battery-driven motor, is simply screwed onto the bottle and activated. “This mixer-drink bottle combination convinces with an original idea which has been produced by careful designing,” summarises the jury.
