The 2018 calendar follows a new con-cept created for the customers of Lotte department stores in South Korea. It is based on the pop art motif series “Walking people”, by Julian Opie. This is a genre which Korean people appre-ciate very much as they are well acquainted with it from different media and advertisements. Departing from the typical format, this calendar is produced in a frame so that it can be enjoyed as a piece of artwork in its own right. By dismantling traditional notions of what a calendar is, this concept was created to preserve the functions of a calendar but open up the possibility to see it as a complete work of art as well. Each of the 13 works can also be hung up separately from the calendar.
