Absolument moderne

The special exhibition “Absolument moderne” was shown at Gutenberg-Museum in Mainz in 2017. The accompanying book and the other materials take a modern view of the famous poem “Le Bateau ivre” by Arthur Rimbaud, which also inspired the design of the corresponding guest book. The exhibition title, in a vibrant red, extends across the dark-blue binding in wave-like movements. Like a ship bobbing up and down on the sea, it sometimes disappears from view. The straight-lined design of the materials in white, red and blue gives the modern reinterpretation of the well-known verses a clearly structured framework.
