The annual report “Aufschwung durch Ableben” (Economic revival through death) gives insight into the most successful and flourishing year for death since the existence of this “traditional firm”. This positive development is a result, above all, from the earthquake in Haiti, the famine in the southern part of Africa and diseases such as Aids, malaria and tuberculosis, which, especially in third world countries, often end fatally. Systematically divided into “business units” such as hurricanes, famines and diseases, the report illustrates the success of the company through comprehensive data and facts and clear, eye-catching graphics. The familiar means of a chart pie, for instance, is rendered as a kitchen plate broken into pieces of different sizes, thus illustrating in a haunting manner the record gains in the segment of earthquakes. The thoroughly professional presentation of this emotional topic in an annual report further heightens the unease that this project triggers.
