Newborns have very soft skulls and if they sleep in one position for too long, it can distort the shape of their skulls. Even though the shape of the skull does not affect brain development immediately, positional plagiocephaly (flat head syndrome) can influence the circumference of the head, the closure of the bone suture and the closure of the anterior and posterior cardia. All these can have an influence on the baby’s brain development later on.
Most babies develop a round skull, but of course, some are naturally born with a flatter head. Before the skull is fully developed, it is important to adjust the sleeping posture of the baby to correct the skull development and make sure that the head shape develops in a normal and beautiful way.
To implement the shaping function of the pillow, simply pull on the drawstring to increase the thickness of the pillow on each side. This naturally causes the baby to sleep on his or her side. By changing alternating the sleeping posture, the head shape will improve over time. This is an easy and intuitive approach to adjust the head shape of the babies.
