Planting trees is used to prevent desertification, but this entails high costs, and requires a lot of manpower and material resources. It is also difficult for plants to survive and grow in these water-deficient areas. However, arid areas often have high rates of evaporation. Cactus is a device that collects water from the humid air to solve the problem of plant growth in these areas at a low cost, while requiring little manpower.
Its porous structure captures water vapour from the air, which then condenses and is transported directly to the seeds or roots of plants to help them grow. Each device caters to exactly one seed, and as it decomposes over time, provides a source of nutrients for the growing plant.
