Eightyfive is a design initiative, established in Seoul in 2016, with a creative focus on digital pixels. The branding philosophy of Eightyfive is based on the meaning of numbers. The number “eight” represents the infinity of space, while “five” stands for the elements wood, fire, earth, metal and water, which make up the universe. The minimalist logo was designed with this meaning in mind and utilises the negative space of the number 85. A square in the upper right symbolises pixels, which are the elements of the digital world, while the rest are dots, referring to the elements which compose the real world.
