Taiwan was once known as the butterfly kingdom. However, as time progressed and society advanced, over-cultivation has endangered the living environment of those butterflies. Destructive human behaviour has caused the near extinction of these insects. This book aims to represent the ideas of respecting life, being concerned about the environment and embracing the “butterfly culture” in Taiwan. It tells its story with the help of colour illustrations, which stand out due to their numerous elaborate details. The layout combines a page of text and a full-page illustration for each double page. The design of the text page is very restrained due to its large amount of white space and does not distract attention from the illustration.
