The lock screen is what smartphone users see first when they activate their device. Instead of the standardised swipe-to-unlock feature with specific unlock spots, LG utilises a peephole method that engages the entire screen. When the screen is touched, a small circle appears, allowing the user to view the home-screen layer beneath. The circle enlarges with the swiping motion, as if a door were being opened. Various design patterns, such as a white hole or a dewdrop, provide a new and engaging way to interact with one’s smartphone.
