Ericsson Remote Reality Racing (E3R) harnesses the power of 5G to allow gamers to control actual remote- controlled cars on physical tracks all over the world — all from the comfort of their own homes.
The 5G technology allows for low latency and haptic feedback, resulting in a more realistic racing experience where you can feel the wheels on the ground. E3R’s UI was created from scratch and leverages the Ericsson Design System — a system originally designed for enterprise software but adapted in this case for game design. This enabled development to be completed in a record-breaking three months.
The final UI is an intriguing yet intuitive mix of real-world camera feeds and graphical indicators that appeals to both casual gamers and racing game enthusiasts.
