Since the nuclear power plant accident in 2011, the area around Fukushima has been radioactively contaminated. Nevertheless, there are people who are exposing themselves to the radiation, thus suffering permanent damage. These corporate design materials illustrate this problem with a sunburst pattern around a red circle, which is reminiscent of the Japanese flag. At the same time, the pattern resembles the “sunburst” rays on the old Japanese military flag – a symbol of the kamikaze commandos during the Second World War – and thus represents human aggression and self-destruction.
