This biographical short film is about a young woman in the United States coming to terms with the death of her grandmother, who lived far away in Taiwan. Since the older generation in Taiwan enjoys drinking hot water at any time of year, a traditional kettle serves as a central visual motif connecting the granddaughter and grandmother across time zones and geographical distance. The design uses saturated colours and simple forms to create bold, pared-back images. Individual graphic elements link to the next scene and thus convey the woman’s journey through the grieving process.
