Under the title “Advancing Horizons”, photographer HGEsch has compiled exemplary city contours from all over the world in a magnificent volume with the generous format of 47 × 27 cm. The illustrated book is published by the teNeues publishing house as a Collector’s Edition with a padded linen cover and embroidered lettering in a linen slipcase with a giclée print measuring 163 × 43 cm. When the book is opened, the limited edition reveals itself as an autographed illustrated book, nearly a metre in width. On double pages printed in excellent quality and containing reproductions of selected details of the photographs, the publication presents the photographer’s distinctive approach to the panorama. Accompanying the photo panels is an introduction to HGEsch’s photography and three illustrated essays that place the panorama in its art-historical context and comment on the history of the cities shown. Conceived as a high-quality coffee-table book, the photographs show the interesting city views in unadorned comparison. Highlights include six 360-degree panoramas that provide a pin-sharp view.Statement by the juryThe design of this special book project impresses with the outstanding quality of its workmanship and realisation. Published in extreme landscape format, it unfolds the panoramic views of the world’s great metropolises in photographs skilfully staged and rarely offered before by the renowned photographer HGEsch.
