The Auckland Museum holds a large collection of Maori art along with art by other indigenous peoples of the Pacific region. The challenge in the development of the museum’s corporate design involved creating a campaign identity that communicates both internally and externally. The solution was secured through a fundamental questioning of the role of a museum. In describing this institutional function, the museum’s initials “AM” were developed into a striking campaign logo.
