#LazarusEffect

Zurück Download

The Lazarus effect is a largely neglected topic and refers to the unintentional rediscovery by chance or by relocation of a life form that was previously lost or considered extinct. The #LazarusEffect project is a multimedia educational campaign with black and white vector illustrations of representatives from flora and fauna currently subject to this effect, including an exhibition concept as a pop-up pavilion for integration into existing exhibitions. Illustrations of German Lazarus such as the brown bear or the target donkey function as a visual key and unite all components. Three large infographics serve as an introduction to the topic and are complemented by the individual themes “The Six Major Mass Extinctions”, the “Death Watch of the Species” as well as an information graphic on native “Fern Plants and Flowering Plants”. The drawings of the animals and plants provide detailed and vivid information about their appearance and occurrence. Meticulously researched and linked in graphics with timelines, it is thus possible to understand when and above all why certain species became extinct – with the aim of promoting the idea of sustainability in the public and reducing species extinction.

Begründung der Jury

The comprehensive project #LazarusEffect convinces with its ingenious approach of preparing interesting insights into the topic and conveying them in an easily understandable and exciting way. The black and white illustrations convey a vivid impression of the diversity and uniqueness of the already extinct plant and animal species and, in combination with scientifically inspired graphics, make the full extent of the situation clear in an oppressive way.
