At the Musée Atelier Audemars Piguet, visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the cultural universe of Swiss watchmakers and learn more about their past, present and future. The exhibition combines reflections and shadows to create a spectacle in which the passage of time is inscribed. The museum route can be experienced as a flowing continuum with a composed narrative in which each chapter has its own formal language and the visitors travel through the building as if through the spring of a timepiece – the architecture also reflects the spiral form of an oscillating spring. The museum’s scenography shows the milestones in the brand’s development and the associated technical innovations, as well as the entire design process, from the origins of watchmaking in the Vallée de Joux to escapements and complications and finally the museum’s focus on the Royal Oak series. Visitors are also invited to try their hands at some of the traditional techniques maintained by the finishing experts to this day. Dominated by the colour gold, which stands for the highest exclusivity, the exhibition features more than 300 unique timepieces.

Begründung der Jury

Form and content in the Musée Atelier Audemars Piguet correlate in an outstanding manner. Like the architecture, the museum route also reflects the special mechanisms and components of the noble watch manufacturing brand that is still active today and masterfully implements them in a consistent reflection not only in the colour scheme, but also in the overall high quality as well as the respect for craftsmanship, which requires the highest precision, concentration and skill.
