Since 2010, twenty art museums of the Ruhr area have bundled their activities under the new RuhrKunstMuseen brand. The dynamism of possible interaction between the individual museums inspired the design of the distinctive logo, which is the key graphical element of the new museum group’s corporate design. Involved museums include the Museum Folkwang in Essen, the Lehmbruck Museum in Duisburg and the Museum Ostwall in Dortmund. A unique typeface was developed for the lettering and is also used consistently as a font for headlines. In combination with the robust typography and bold colours, angular shapes derived from the logo with their transparent overlays define this striking corporate image.
