As the first architectural installation at the Taiwan Lantern Festival, the Sailing Castle contrives a symbolic pavilion with wood constructions. Inspired by the view of many sailboats gathering in the harbour, as seen from the Donggang coast, the installation interpreted that view through white sails harmoniously intertwined among the structure, turning the pavilion into an enormous sculptural entity embodying that enchanting scenery. As a symbolic attraction, the installation thus evoked the image of fishermen and boats sailing off and making homeward voyages. The interaction among people and the Sailing Castle aimed at representing the prosperity of the local fishing industry and also the notions of communal unity, expectations and joy.
