Sankt Poelten lebt!

St Pölten, the capital of Lower Austria, is going to apply for the title of the European Capital of Culture 2024. Following a personal approach, the work “Sankt Poelten lebt!” (Sankt Poelten Is Alive!) presents an imaginative compendium for the title year. The design of the book is inspired by a philosophical concept by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari – the rhizome. The term describes a root network which is dynamic, processual and anti-hierarchical. Accordingly, the common thread in the layout is formed by root-like graphics suggesting that the city is a living organism and emphasising the creative potential of various urban locations.
