The billboard announcing the season opening for the Bielefeld Philharmonic Orchestra attracts the attention of the observer through a simple design focusing on the essentials. The aim of the typography is the visualisation of music. Harmoniously curved lines of differing thickness dominate the image. Reminiscent of musical notation, they run playfully and dynamically across the unicolour background, yet move within the clearly predefined framework of the design composition. Interrupted only by a thin diagonal that looks like a baton, the lines form a large “18”, the season year.
