Tagtile

Fashion is a powerful form of self-expression, yet it remains largely inaccessible to visually impaired individuals. Tagtile addresses this challenge by integrating tactile and digital communication methods into garment labels, enabling users to independently access essential clothing information and details. Tagtile's labels feature embossed symbols representing a key piece of garment information: colour. A tactile colour system assigns distinct letter symbols to nine colours (inspired by ROYGBIV, black, white, and grey), with dots indicating brightness levels. This structured system allows users to differentiate colours through touch. Additionally, NFC technology is embedded in the label, allowing users to access extensive product information via a smartphone. This innovative approach ensures that visually impaired individuals can confidently engage with fashion. By enhancing garment accessibility, Tagtile promotes inclusive design principles within the textile industry. The project highlights the potential of inclusive design to bridge the gap between visual and tactile communication, empowering users with greater independence and reinforcing the importance of accessibility in everyday products.
