The story of this publication is based on the 300-year-old adventure travelogue “Small Sea Travel Diaries”. It tells of a difficult journey from mainland China to Taiwan. The author illustrates the perils of this journey with vivid pictures. For the dangers which lurk on the Taiwan Strait, for example, he chooses the metaphor of a two-headed snake which circles a boat and strikes everyone on board with fear. In order to tell the story from the author’s perspective, the publication contains colour illustrations which portray Taiwan as it was 300 years ago.
