As telecommunication and the sending of congratulations to friends became less personal over time, O2 decided to reinvent one of the oldest communication tools, shape it up-to-date and create the first calling greeting card. A new hard- and software solution was developed and each card equipped with basic elements of a mobile device, such as a speaker and a GSM unit. When the recipient opens it, it automatically calls the sender so they can speak to each other directly. The inventive idea sparked, turned into a patent pending product and generated a buzz throughout international media.
