The New Moscow

Back

The New Moscow directs the attention to Constructivist architecture and puts 180 buildings and housing estates located within the Moscow Ring Road centre-stage. The map, drawn in black and white, shows unknown as well as world-famous buildings in constructivist style, which are often seen as reminders of the country’s communist past and regarded as cheap and ugly by the Russian population. Many of the buildings are thus falling into disrepair and are at risk of being demolished. The aim of the map is to highlight the architectural significance of the buildings and ensure their preservation.
