Red Dot jury: the panel is set

The jury of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design is at the ready. Soon, the international panel will come to Essen, Germany and decide which of the numerous entries will be honoured with the Red Dot this year. Beside other big names of the industry, the Scottish designer Jack Renwick, newcomer Jörg Sachtleben from Scholz & Friends and Michel Chanaud from France, editor of étapes:, will be part of the Red Dot jury.

Jack Renwick – Founder of Jack Renwick Studio

Jack Renwick is a multi-award winning designer with a strong passion for ideas. She runs a multi-discipline design consultancy in London under the name "Jack Renwick Studio". She has worked on a huge variety of projects over the past 18 years for clients including eBay, BBC, Grohe, Nokia, Royal Mail and Stella McCartney. She is a fellow and education board member of the ISTD, (International Society of Typographic Designers) and is a regular speaker, writer, visiting lecturer, and external examiner for a variety of institutions. Jack originates from Glasgow. She is frequently sought out as an awards jury member for her ‘refreshingly frank’ views and has already been part of the Red Dot expert group several times.

Jörg Sachtleben – creative director Scholz & Friends

Jörg Sachtleben started his career at BBDO in Düsseldorf, Germany. In 2008, he began to work for Scholz & Friends in Hamburg, Germany. As creative director he supervised projects for clients like Opel, Siemens, Vodafone and VHV ensurances. In 2012, Sachtleben became chief executive at Kemper Kommunikation in Frankfurt, Germany, the leading agency responsible for the communication of Porsche. In May 2013, he returned to Scholz & Friends where he became chief executive in charge of the creative direction for the agency in Düsseldorf, Germany. Jörg Sachtleben is a member of the ADC. In the course of his career, he has won numerous national and international awards. This year, he celebrates his jury debut at the Red Dot Award.

Michel Chanaud – editor of étapes:

Born in Paris in 1950, Michel Chanaud is an entrepreneur who founded his first design prototyping company in 1969. He went on to form a creative hotshop for graphic design focusing on creative services. Their customers were large advertising companies. This allowed him to challenge multiple design fields of visual creation. In the 1980s, he was very aware of the rising importance of the digital revolution and was appointed CEO of a company that quickly became the leading distributor of Apple in France and the main distributor of Adobe solutions, Quark and Macromedia. In 1989, he founded Pyramyd, which is now the reference professional training centre for careers in visual creation. In 1994, he launched the bimonthly magazine étapes: which became one of the top ten leading authorities on graphic design at an international level. He is also the managing director of Pyramyd éditions, the largest publisher of books on design in France. It lists 450 titles and publishes almost 35 new titles every year. Chanaud is also a juror of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design for the first time.
