To do this, they simply complete a second registration – either in the “Smart Products” or in the “Innovative Products” metacategory – after entering the product in one of the roughly 50 categories. As part of the evaluation process, the jury will then inspect the entries in a second walkthrough with a different focus. Aspects such as the level of innovation, technical refinements or changes in the language of form play a role for innovative entries. If the entries submitted win over the jury not only in their category but also as a smart or innovative product, the laureates will win not one but two awards.
