Red Dot in an interview with Prof. Jure Miklavc

Red Dot: You are experienced in numerous industries. What is it that interests you particularly?
Prof. Jure Miklavc: Right now, we are busy with the areas of complex smart solutions, transport design and the circular economy. Personally, I am looking forward to automation with intelligently connected products. I have loved robotics ever since I was kid. It is an exciting time to be able to use and play with such technology.

Which area of design has the greatest potential for development for the future in your opinion?
I think that all areas of design should incorporate the philosophy of the circular economy. Whatever perspective we consider this from we soon realise that the majority of resources are limited, so any design activities should take a wide view of their responsibility. While doing that, we need to take into account all the various social and environmental processes in order to design truly sustainable systems, services and products.
