Bamboo’s Eatery

Bamboo as a design topic is integrated on many levels in the concept for the Bamboo’s Eatery restaurant in Nanjing, China. Facing a local street, the three decks of the restaurant feature a facade with bamboo in front of the windows as well as bamboo for the interior design, which lends the restaurant a strong appearance of natural simplicity. Based on a design philosophy of “dissipation”, the use of bamboo helped create a space of peace and modesty. The architecture thus aimed at realising a traditional and sensuously appealing space in the midst of an environment marked by modern buildings.
