The promotional event Frozen Cinema was conceived for people to experience how it feels to be homeless in winter. The air conditioning was reduced to an absolute minimum in the cinema during the screening of a short film featuring homeless people talking directly to the audience. Donations could be made instantly via a QR code on distributed blankets or after the movie. The results were immediate donations, newspaper coverage, TV and blog reports and YouTube viewings. Also, Düsseldorf’s mayor became an active supporter of the fiftyfifty organisation for the homeless.
