Sustainable Enjoyment

GRAPUR is not just about premium wines – it is also an environment-focused wine project that consistently adheres to the principles of organic viticulture and sustainable packaging. Even the charmingly illustrated labels tell the story of harmony between mankind and the environment, and reflect the organic vineyard’s diversity and energy. The woodcut-like motifs on a base of earthy tones are intended to inspire the imagination and to give the product an emotional charge. A small section of the motif is also featured as an eye-catching detail on the cork closure material, while another small visual cue subtly references the manufacturer’s focus on organic quality – GRAPUR ends with an R that is embellished with leaves. The sustainable aspects of the packaging are also apparent at first glance, because the wines are bottled in recycled lightweight bottles, which significantly reduces the carbon footprint during production and transport. Instead of natural cork, the innovative closures are made of recycled plastic collected before reaching the ocean. Besides this meaningful contribution to protecting the planet’s oceans, the corks offer functional advantages. They are quality-stable and preserve the wine’s flavour integrity even when the bottle is stored upright, resulting in significantly fewer rejects. “GRAPUR follows a remarkably consistent philosophy – from growing the vines to bottling the wine and transporting it in lightweight bottles. The corks and labels made from ocean-bound plastic also represent a big step towards sustainability,” summarised the Red Dot Jury. “The ecological focus is also evident in the graphics, which are playfully light with surprisingly unconventional freshness.” Subtle refinement of the label with embossed foil adds an element of elegance and tactility to the GRAPUR lettering. Naturally, the label contains no harmful substances and can be easily de-inked during the recycling process. In the same way that GRAPUR’s organic production of wine follows the perpetual cycle of nature, the initiators aimed to achieve circularity with their packaging design, which makes an authentic statement about sustainable enjoyment.
