HOMO

HOMO is a 3-metre tall hanging figure made of glass, metal and ceramics. It took a whole team of sculptors, glassblowers and ceramic craftsmen to create each element by hand. The entire creative process took six months. The figure itself looks like it came out of a picture made by Russian avant-garde masters. The laconic-shaped and multicoloured glass spheres and ellipses are connected by a metal armature. The colourful surfaces bend and reflect the light, creating thousands of changing shades and semi-tones like in a huge kaleidoscope. Combined, these effects make the whole object seem like it is levitating. HOMO is more than another interior decoration. While it is an art object, it is completely functional – all elements have their purpose. There is a module with a clock in the centre, its ceramic mandrel hung in a zero gravity-like space. Other modules are versatile and can be used as decorative lamps or flower vases. It all depends on space’s demands. By using each element differently, it is possible to turn HOMO into anything from a gigantic chandelier or even into a vertical botanical conservatory.
