Illustration of Taiwan Café Movement (1930-2010)

In this multi-part work, five cafés serve as examples to explore their role as a place where people have been socialising and meeting others and which has offered a rich cultural life from the 1930s to the present. Reminiscent of classical Chinese scroll illustrations, which were records of social activities, it features illustrated scrolls. Newspapers in various design styles refer to the reading habits in the old days. In addition, readers are invited to write and send off the included postcards. The work uses the colours black, grey and red to emphasise the texts.
