Public Installation
LICHTGRENZE
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, an extraordinary light installation was created, following the former route of the so-called Berliner Mauer. From 7–9 November 2014, the 15.3 km frontier that once divided the city centre was reimagined in light by thousands of illuminated balloons. On the last night of the temporary installation, 8,000 volunteers jointly released the balloons with their own personal message attached into the Berlin night sky. Thus, the wall of light, just like its 1989 counterpart, literally vanished into thin air with the help of the citizens.
