Merging

Merging seeks to expand the horizons of fibre innovation through the use of 3D weaving, colour gradients, interactive compounds, and technology to unite urban landscapes with the natural environment. As we merge the natural world with our interior environments, we move towards reimagining how we can better coexist within built and natural environments in a more reciprocal and symbiotic way. By utilising an AVL Dobby loom, colour and structure are combined into a three-dimensional textile. Taking the form of a woven wall-panel with a multifunctional structure, Merging can be installed throughout personal and domestic spaces, business/office spaces, as well as public buildings and spaces. Ultimately, the work provides a colour-field vista that encourages the viewer to meditate on how we can better engage with the transient state of the present moment, and to tune into the myriad minute sensations of being in the world.
