The PFAFF creative icon 2 sewing and embroidery machine translates this heritage into a minimalist and user-oriented design. With high-quality surfaces and materials, it is designed to help creative users achieve high levels of perfection. To this end, it offers numerous high-tech solutions and novel features. An AI working in the background supports the user in special activities such as the correct attachment of the presser foot. Voice recognition offers a new product experience through touchless commands during sewing such as “Alexa, switch to embroidery mode”. With the integrated camera, the hooped fabric can be scanned and displayed on the machine’s colour touchscreen. Adapted to the target group, the operating elements and all touchpoint elements of the user interface were precisely defined based on how the machine would be used. The biggest design challenge was to integrate all the new functions and components while maintaining a clean look and ensuring their maximum visibility when using the machine. The volumes and angles were carefully studied to deliver the best ergonomic view of the needle area. The touchpoints, such as the hand wheel, are specially designed and crafted with soft touch materials in combination with metal accents.
