This brand identity – created for Matcha One, a matcha café in Taipei, Taiwan – revives the tea tradition through a design that appeals to a young target group. In order to focus on creativity and originality, the slogan “the new era of matcha” was conceived as its value proposition. Based on their meaning in Japan and China, the symbolism of the “Matcha” bowl and the name “One” have been combined to create a radiant pattern defining the entire brand image. The collection extends to include the shape of a Japanese tea whisk, Mille Crepe cake and also roll cake, expressed as radial, horizontal and spiral patterns performed by a calligraphy brush, while black and white add a traditional yet modern atmosphere.
