The Polarizer reimagines the everyday coaster as a functional and visually captivating innovation. By integrating magnetic levitation, recyclable materials, and self-drying capabilities, it combines design with sustainability. The coasters, crafted from recyclable wool felt, hover above a spin-top stand using opposing magnets to create an intriguing anti-gravity effect while also serving practical purposes. When a cold drink is placed on the coaster, it absorbs condensation and protects surfaces from moisture. The levitation keeps the coaster clean and self-drying, which reduces maintenance. Additionally, the magnetic feature introduces creative possibilities by magnetising liquids or condiments, adding a wellness-focused element to hydration. The Polarizer comprises three main components. The 'Felt Coaster' is lightweight, heat-resistant, moisture-absorbing, washable, and recyclable. The 'Levitation Module' creates a floating effect using opposing magnets, which adds cleanliness and intrigue. The 'Spin-Top Stand' adds functionality with its minimal-contact design, making usage simple and doubling as a fun drinking roulette game. Blending aesthetics, functionality, and eco-consciousness, the Polarizer addresses challenges associated with common coasters such as durability, cleaning, and recyclability.
