In the complex world we live in everything can be seen as a sign. This is how Umberto Eco, one of the most influential proponents of contemporary semiotics, defines the study of signs. The Saya chair is so sharply designed that it resembles a graphic symbol. Saya’s lines flow thanks to the warm appearance of wood, with the daring silhouette of the chair set in effective contrast. This incisive shape adds the finishing touch to every room like a signature which makes it clear who the author of a text is. Saya is suitable for use in many ways both in the home and in public spaces. It is available in natural oak or teak, but also in an open-pore varnish. Varnishes in white, black, ochre and three shades of red allow for combinations that add variety, but are nonetheless cohesive. The significant design of Saya goes hand in hand with a high degree of functionality and durability. It has a four-legged frame available either in wood or chromium-plated steel. The latter is stackable, so even the large numbers of chairs needed for conference rooms can be stored without problem. In this way, Saya combines symbolic and concise expression with a high level of suitability for everyday use.
