“Architecture is knowledge around the technology, susceptibility in relation to the artistic side of the affair.” With these words, Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen described the scope for creative work in architecture. In this context, the Schüco ASS 77 PD.SI sliding system offers a multitude of ground-breaking new options for designing large areas of glass. One of the innovations of this system is the functional design of the window frame, as this feature is almost invisible to the observer. It is concealed in the structural connection to the building and the visible profile is, on average, only 30 millimetres wide. The effect of this minimisation is an unhindered view even when the glass area is large. Neither profiles nor handles disturb generously proportioned glass panorama walls. This sliding system also offers excellent thermal insulation properties. A UD value of up to 0.8 W/m K means that heat loss is minimal even if the area of glass is very large. The sliding system is made of aluminium and has an overall depth of 77 millimetres. Another innovative aspect of this product is that the automatic propulsion and locking technology is integrated in the profile. In this way, architects can realistically design large sliding constructions which offer a high level of transparency and allow the maximum amount of light to penetrate a building.
