The design ingenuity of the LQ-01 lies in leveraging distributed thrust vectoring and curved landing gear, allowing the airframe to achieve tilt-body operation, thereby eliminating the need for the redundant vertical and cruise propulsion systems or heavy tilt-rotor mechanisms typical of conventional VTOL aircraft. This results in a fixed fuselage-wing integrated structure with motor-propeller systems seamlessly embedded into the airframe. The intrinsic simplicity of this configuration translates directly into significantly reduced operational costs and simplified maintenance workflows. Moreover, a specially designed water landing kit can be seamlessly integrated, extending the drone's capabilities to include waterborne takeoff, landing, and surface navigation, thereby greatly enhancing its operational versatility. This adaptability unlocks tremendous potential across key application areas such as power grid inspection, geographic surveying, hydrological research, oil pipeline monitoring, environmental testing, specialised security missions (counter-narcotics and anti-terrorism), forestry surveys, and marine monitoring.
