Red Dot: Design Team of the Year 2012

Michael Mauer & Style Porsche

Porsche has always succeeded in preserving the identity of the company as part of an evolutionary design process. The Red Dot recognised this achievement by the car manufacturer’s design team in 2012. For decades, the legendary Porsche 911 has combined sportiness with everyday practicality, the art of engineering and design in a very special way. Balancing tradition and innovation, Michael Mauer & Style Porsche developed the 911 model further from one generation to the next. It doesn’t matter whether it’s the 911, the Cayenne or the Panamera – every model designed by the sports car manufacturer is always recognisable as a Porsche.

This work regularly won numerous distinctions in the Red Dot Award: Product Design, with Michael Mauer & Style Porsche displaying their consistent design strength in an international comparison. In the same year, the 2012 Design Team of the Year also won over the jury of experts for the competition with the new model of the classic Porsche Carrera 911, which won a Red Dot: Best of the Best.

“Porsche is a sports car brand. That means, whichever vehicle is released by Porsche on the market, it must always be a sports car. It must handle like a sports car, sound like a sports car and look like a sports car from Porsche.”
