In 2013, computer manufacturer Lenovo was the first Chinese company to win the Design Team of the Year title. The Lenovo Design & User Experience Team was awarded for unique forms and applications, but also for the creative use of materials that had never before been used for notebooks and tablets. Lenovo succeeded in finding an authentic design language that is understood all over the world. The company, founded in 1984 and based in Hong Kong, is thus one of the leading Asian computer manufacturers to translate technological progress successfully into a new product language.
Its continuous success in the Red Dot Award: Product Design bears special testimony to this approach. Lenovo’s designs have made it a several-times winner of the top award in the competition, “Red Dot: Best of the Best”, as well as of numerous other Red Dot awards. Yao Yingjia, Head of Design and User Experience Centre, has played a key role in this success and accepted the award in person on 1 July 2013 in Essen.
