Prof. Masayo Ave
Professor Masayo Ave, an architect and designer, founded her own design studio “Ave design corporation” in 1992 and since 2001 has been a leader in advanced sensory design research. From 2004 to 2007, she had a guest professorship at the Berlin University of the Arts, where she founded the Experimental Design Institute of Haptic Interface Design. Afterwards, she was professor and head of the product design department at the Estonian Academy of Arts. From 2012 to 2013, she was a guest professor at the textile and surface design department at Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin. She has also held a teaching position at the Kanazawa College of Arts in Japan, since 2009. Since 2006, her design studio “MasayoAve creation” and the Haptic Interface Design Institute have been based in Berlin.
Masayo Ave is actively involved in educational design programmes for children and young people in cooperation with design institutes such as the DesignSingapore Council and the Red Dot Design Museum Essen, Germany. In October 2016, she was appointed professor and head of product design department of BAU International Berlin – University of Applied Sciences.
