Tom Schönherr, born in 1954, graduated from the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart in 1982. He subsequently worked for Frogdesign in Altenstein, Germany, and Cupertino, USA, as well as for Apple, Sony, Märklin and Hansgrohe to name but a few. From 1987 to 2019, Tom Schönherr was the managing partner of Phoenix Design in Stuttgart, Munich and Shanghai, a company which he co-founded. Here, he also managed the design budgets of international brands such as Duravit, Hansgrohe, Gira, Loewe, Miele, Sharp, Trumpf and Zeiss. He has received numerous international awards for his outstanding work, including the Lucky Strike Award in 1998 and the German Design Award in 2012, both of which were awarded in the category “Personality”. In 2018, he was laureate of the Red Dot: Design Team of the Year for Phoenix Design. Tom Schönherr utilises his extensive experience in design, management, strategy as well as technical and construction processes in his activity on national and international juries. He furthermore passes on his knowledge in workshops, lectures and professional articles.
