For the 1,000 copies of a book of Haiku poetry by João Varella, 1,000 unique covers were created. The explorative poems have been interpreted visually through a collaboration with the illustrator FP Rodrigues. Each cover of the book’s limited copies was manually printed with acrylic paints using stencils of the numbers 42 and 7, overlapping in different positions and colours. These combinations created a plurality of graphic results, from more legible covers to very abstract ones. This artistic design idea allows each cover to be unique.
