A Flash of Sunlight

Try to imagine the feeling when sunlight filters into a room through a curtain. A Flash of Sunlight brings this to the design of an indoor lamp. Although the light from an LED lamp is cold, users can ‘feel’ the warmth of sunlight when looking at it because it reminds them of sunlight shining through a curtain. Users can adjust the ‘curtains’, and thus the lamp’s brightness, by pulling the lamp cord. This unconventional interaction changes the relationship between the lamp and the user. This way, lamps become warm and closely related to users, instead of only being a cold household appliance. The lamp also serves as a wireless charging pad for mobile phones and smartwatches.
