The Bal Stool is created with two pieces of plywood and a rubber ball as a supporting structure. The simple rubber ball balances the weight of the user and provides a novel experience with a subtle buoyancy. The two pieces of plywood are bent under pressure in the same mould to reduce consumption of material, which simplifies the whole production process and makes it more efficient. A three-layer plywood was chosen for the upper layer of the stool because it provides better elasticity than a five-layer plywood. The shape of the stool is inspired by tree branches, and the stool echoes the simplicity and beauty of nature. The wood grains on the plywood also simulates the shape of branches, aiming to close the distance between people and nature.
